Om Namah Bhagavate Vasudevaya
Let us first offer our respect to the Supreme Lord. We meditate on him because he is the cause of the creation, maintenance and destruction of all the universes. He is conscious of everything and completely independent. There is no other cause beyond him for he is the absolute truth.
This Bhagavatam rejects all religious activities that are performed for material rewards. The knowledge it contains completely transcends all material considerations. It contains the supreme truth, which can be understood by those who are free of envy and pure of heart.
The supreme truth describes the ultimate reality, thereby removing illusion and eradicating all suffering. This is the source of the true welfare of all beings.
The great sage Vyasadeva wrote this beautiful book in his spiritual maturity. There is no need for any other scripture, because the Supreme Lord becomes confined within the heart of anyone who hears this Bhagavatam.
Those who are knowledgeable and thoughtful will take great pleasure in hearing this Bhagavatam because it contains the mature fruit of all Vedic knowledge.
